A range of functional films are available as a solution for some very specific performance applications.
Aircraft film, for example, requires a high-performance film with minute perforations throughout to prevent material lifting in areas which are sensitive to pressurisation leaks. Stone-guard film on motor vehicles protect paintwork from stone chips and scratches. Anti-vibration films help to stop those annoying rattles caused by components rubbing or knocking together during normal use.
CGI can advise on the ideal, most robust material to use in these and other circumstances requiring functional films.
We supply a range of high performance, exterior durable polyurethane paint protection films in various callipers to protect paint work from abrasion and chipping in high abrasion areas such as the front fenders, wheel arches and bonnet.
Every one of the CGI range of stone chip films are tested and validated to automotive specifications which include extended exterior weathering, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, adhesion and gravel-o-meter testing, where we replicate the effect of gravel exposure to our films.
Our stone chip films also have a self-healing property, which allows minor scratches and scuffs to self-recover.
Our wrap guard and wheel protect films are used to protect potential areas of scratching and denting of the paint, wheels and rims throughout the transportation process.
The wrap guard film is a temporary application thin white conformable polyethylene film with a specially designed adhesive to ensure ease of application to paint on the roof, bonnet, door handles and boot.
Our wheel guard film is a temporary application film applied to the outside wheel rim to protect the rim from damage and reduce potential corrosion of the brake drum during shipping in containers.
Our noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) films have been designed to reduce and control acoustic noise, noise due to plastic components rubbing together and the effect of vibrations.
Our NVH films have been designed for the enclosures of engines to dampen noise due to vibration from the engine and hinges.
We use viscoelastic damping Polymers between the various plastic components in a vehicle to ensure that the noise of the components rubbing together is dampened and controlled, using adhesives with extremely good adhesion to plastics as well as a low co-efficient of friction, ensuring they do not wear away with continuous abrasion.
